Raíz, Spanish for “root,” depicts portraits of twenty seven POC participants, ages four to twelve, modeling the animal masks they created. Each participant also uses their body to form the initial letter of their chosen animal, coming together to create the Spanish alphabet. Experiencing visual and performative art. The whole project took place at Grauwler Recreational Center and exhibited at Oak Cliff Cultural Center during the summer of 2026.
